People always ask what I listen to while I work. The honest answer is that the playlist changes depending on what I am building. If I am deep in logic and code, I want something with a strong consistent rhythm. If I am designing or thinking creatively, I want something a bit more open and melodic.
Lately my dev sessions have been running on a mix of lo-fi hip hop, old school DJ sets, and some electronic stuff that keeps the energy up without being distracting. The goal is always to stay in a flow state — music is the tool that makes that happen for me.
There is something fitting about building a music-driven game while surrounded by music. It keeps me connected to what the player is supposed to feel when they are actually in the game.
I will put together a proper playlist link in a future post. For now, just know that the soundtrack to this game was built alongside some seriously good records.
